PEOPLE / EXPERIMENTS / MEMORY

Not everything important became a paper.

Some of my clearest memories belong to ordinary photographs: a teacher beside me at a school chemistry festival, a failed embedding block, friends gathered around a research poster and a microscope on my desk at home. Each photograph leads to a longer story about the people or the work.

01 / PEOPLE & BEGINNINGS

The people before the publications.

The school chemistry festival, an early medical encounter, and later visits to my old classrooms appear in photographs and longer personal stories.

THE PATIENT / CLINICAL HISTORY

A physician remembered

I remember Dr. Elsheikh Abdelrahim from the early years of the eosinophilic illness that complicated my education.

SCHOOL / AN EARLIER WORLD

Returning to the first classrooms

A later visit to my former school classrooms brought back the first chemistry exhibitions and the people I studied with.

02 / THE EXPERIMENTAL RECORD

Before a result has a title.

A bench photograph can bring back an afternoon in the laboratory. To understand what the experiment established, I still turn to the measurements and the paper.

SCIENTIFIC FIELDNOTES / ORIGINAL PLOT

Humidity, resistance and capacitance

The TiO₂ fieldnotes bring resistance and capacitance measurements into view alongside droplet-profile images. The plots show the actual questions being tested.

EXPERIMENTAL FAILURE / HISTOLOGY

The section that did not cooperate

During a zebrafish histology attempt, the agarose and paraffin separated during processing. The block yielded no usable tissue sections.

03 / CHEMISTRY IN PUBLIC

Science beyond the bench.

Student organizing, travel, scientific conversations and historical-chemistry work have their own source records.
